Dr.
Robert Horn, a pathologist specializing in
renal pathology and the founder of this laboratory,
has over twenty-five years experience in the
practice of renal biopsy pathology, as a full-time
faculty member in pathology at Vanderbilt University
(1965 - 1981), as a staff pathologist at Baptist
Hospital in Nashville (1981-1985), and since 1985 as
the owner of this private and independent laboratory
in Nashville, providing renal biopsy pathology
services and diagnosis in a consultative orientation
to practicing nephrologists in this region.
In
2000 Dr. Horn was joined by a full-time associate
pathologist, Dr. Lilia Mauricio. Dr Mauricio received
her M.D. from University of Santo Tomas Medical
School, Manila, Philippines, and completed her
residency at Vanderbilt University. She served as
the chief of Pathology at community hospitals for
over 20 years, as a surgical pathologist, cytopathologist, and clinical laboratory physician
and consultant.
Prior to
joining LKP as a full-time associate pathologist in 2000,
Dr. Mauricio assisted Dr. Horn on a part-time basis. Her long experience and remarkable fluency in interpreting complex pathologic and laboratory
findings to her clinical colleagues, in academic practice, community hospital practice, and, now, in a referral laboratory setting, greatly enhances her expertise in the evaluation of kidney biopsies for the clientele of LKP.
